Stanek continues fight for the unborn
by
Mike Hodge
Shock. Tears.
That’s the response to the new movie 22 Weeks, according to pro-life activist and former nurse Jill Stanek. Stanek was at the special screening held in Washington, DC, as was the mother that the movie is about. “There’s a good deal of interest in the film” she says. The screening was held prior to the March For Life.
When asked about the impact of the March For Life, Stanek says, “President Obama is very pro-abortion and probably won’t be impacted by a hundred thousand people descending on DC to march and it doesn’t help that the mainstream media doesn’t publicize this event. It’s the largest annual event in Washington on a consistent basis.” She says “we can’t just stop because we have a pro-abortion President. We can influence members of Congress.”
The following is from a partial-birth abortion fundraising letter written by Michelle Obama for her husband when he was running for the US Senate in 2004: “We have all been concerned lately with the rise of conservatism in this country, especially when it relates to women. You know the stakes have never been higher and we can’t depend on untested amateurs and administrators in this fight.” (The entire letter can be found on Stanek’s website, www.jillstanek.com)
President Obama has already restored funding to the “Mexico City policy” and told a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in 2007 that he will sign the Freedom of Choice Act(FOCA) should it land on his desk. “Abortion was at the forefront of his mind, it was ahead of immigration or the economy or the Iraq war.” This would overturn every local, state and federal law that has been passed against abortion in the past 36 years. This was the first thing he wanted to sign into law” says Stanek.
Jill Stanek has been fighting Obama since 1998 when he was a state Senator in Illinois. She says her life has changed “180 degrees” since then. She says “there’s a million things people can do” when it comes to promoting the pro-life agenda. “There’s euthanasia, crisis pregnancy center, embryonic stem cell research. You can write letters to the editor, become activists and picket and pray in front of abortion clinics and at intersections to educate the public about what really goes on with abortion. You can become involved in politics and try to either stop pro- abortion funding and laws or pass pro-life laws. There’s really are a million ways for people to get involved in the pro-life movement and there’s really no excuse not too.”
